about

Contemporary works for violin and piano composed by:
Philip BROWNLEE
Josiah CARR
Gareth FARR
GAO Ping
Leonie HOLMES
Reuben JELLEYMAN
Juliet Kiri PALMER
Anthony RITCHIE

When we first started giving concerts together in 2015, we immediately agreed upon the importance of featuring NZ music, as this country is spectacularly overflowing with gifted and creative composers. We saw an opportunity to seek out and record duos that weren’t as well-known as we thought they should be, and also wanted to help grow the violin and piano repertoire by commissioning more new works. This album is our way of elevating 11 extraordinary New Zealand composers to the fore, highlighting and juxtaposing their unique and vibrant voices.
